Slicer fails to make holes

Version 1176 errors out when making holes in a part that has been hollowed out (wall 2.5mm) and filled with lattice. I get this error

I have tried stopping and restarting, moving the components, changing the hollowing parameters and fill parameters. Nothing seems to work.

Hi Ron,

That typlically indicates that the boolean fails. It's tricky to say what fails it.
Is the mesh good? Repairing the mesh before hand does that help?

It needs to do a couple of things;

1. determine 2 planes or intersection (in and out)
2. determine which triangles the cylinder will intersect
3. cut those out
4. triangulate the remaining open area again
5. stitch back the triangulation.

To do a quick test I've installed a blank V1176 and modelled up a similar model in fusion (see stl attached).
when i hollow that on 2.5mm, I can add holes after that.
