Hi
I have a already hollowed (in Meshmixer) object inserted into Formware. Usuallay i add support by clicking on “Generating Support” and afterwards i modify it by adding manual supports. Models which are not already hollowed working this way. But with a already hollowed model i have problems adding manual supports.
I want to add support structure to the red part but formware wont let me do that
Any ideas what is the problem or how i can do that?

Hi,
Yes this is a known bug from meshmixer that is causing this behaviour.
Meshmixer doesn’t export the correct normals to the mesh when you save it as .stl.
(remember; STL is saved as 3 triangle coordinates + normal).
Meshmixer flips Y and Z direction sometimes; this is a setting on by default.
But it forgets to rotate the normal in the export.
The result is you don’t se the red/brown surfaces on the correct faces. The normal vectors are off.
Now; i think in our latest version I’ve fixed this by checking if the stl was exported by mesmmixer.
