If pole diameter is larger, then the support merges into the part. Seems like the pole radius needs to be added to the minimum offset.
And also, that raises the issue of it would be nice if there was a “Minimum offset” setting for support.

I am having the same issue. When using automatic supports support poles are placed too close to the model. They end up adhering to the model, making them almost impossible to remove. Is there a setting I am missing where one can specify not to autocreate supports so close to the model?

We are working on extra settings for this.
In the image given above; i would reduce the diameter of the tip and perhaps increase the density a little.
It’s better to have multiple thin supports than many thick ones in post processing.
