Hi,
I’ll do a check next week for all new printers.
If it’s a profile in chitubox, you can just export it and import as a machine in the machines dialog (config).
It accepts chitubox config files.
You just need to check the output format, if it’s .ctb files it will go correctly; if it’s different you need to set that correctly in the slice setup tab. The .cfg files from chitubox don’t have the file extension/type in there.
kind regards
Elco
Thanks
it is in Chitubox or at least it came with Chitubox and had a config in it
i’ll give it a shot
Hello, Elco and satgod, I did get my Saturn 4 Ultra yesterday, and I am trying things as well. I did find the profile for the machine in Formware 3D, with the right printer image and all. It exports to the .goo format successfully as well and the printer will read and print the file. The problem is that the files sliced in Formware 3D take 10 times longer to print compared to chitubox sliced files.
I noticed the peel and retract movement speeds are set to 1mm/min, and the Z lift distance is set to 1mm.
Since this machine has the tilt vat feature, I am worried of changing these values to something “undefined” or “out of range” and break something. Please advise. Thanks!
Hi Gonzalo,
I noticed that in the chitubox files it exports files with all values set to 0.05.
Can you try and change these values in UVtools to 0.05 and then try again?
It’s a dummy value… and i find it hard to believe they would ever use that; it would make the firmware incredibly badly programmed. But we’ve seen worse.
Our software doesn’t allow values smaller than 1mm/min because it made no sense. (protecting the user).
So we would have to update the software if this is really the case.
kind regards
Elco
Elco,
Apparently, UVTools has not cought up with the tilt vat feature either and it does not allow to enter lift and retract speeds below 10mm/min. Hence, I cannot set any movement speeds to 0.05. Unless I am not looking at this right…
Hello Elco, Have you found a workaround to this problem? I cannot use your slicer if this cant be fixed. the only printer i have now is the Saturn 4 Ultra.
Thank you so much.
Hi Gonzalo,
I will have a look next week at this problem. It should be fixable for sure; we’ll make it work.
If it’s just a simple minimum value in the numeric box then it’s an easy correction.
But i have to compare the files in more detail.
Does UVTools allow you to export to this machine already?
Could be an intermediate way.
You could also manually edit your settings file and set all distances/speeds at 0.05.
And then not open it in the formware3d UI… but then it’s hard to edit your layertimes…
No easy fix…
kind regards
Elco
Elco, I submitted the bug to UVTools and they fixed it in the latest update! so now there is better compatibility with the tilting vat printers and you can set the speed values to zero and up. So, for now I can just run the files thru UVTools to fix the 0.05 speed value.
I did try other speeds in Formare 3d and the machine will actually accept them! I am in the process of finding the exact speed values that the machine uses (has a NORMAL and FAST setting, no indication of the value). Bottom line is: with Formware 3D (or now UVTools) the user can use custom peel and retract speeds on the tilt vat printer. (dont quote me on that yet, im still testing).
Hi Gonzalo,
Ok awesome. Keep me up to date with what you find.
It’s a great help to have someone testing it. Sometimes it’s really black magic what the hardware does with the files.

Elco, unfortunately the UVTools fix did not work well. there are still some parameters that you cant set to 0.05 in UVTools, so it is not working well yet. i will let you know if i find anything relevant. But, if you can allow FW3D to accept any values for any speeds or distances (so i can enter 0.05 where necessary) that would put you ahead of UVtools.
