Visual feedback?

#1

Hi,
I Installed the new formware version (1165) and liked most of the new features (adding txt is so great !) , but I dislike the change made “support location spheres”.
They’re way too big when you got to place fine supports…
I completly lose the possibility to locate the edges of objects to place supports on the correct spot ( fe 3dprinted teeth)

Is there a way to reduce the visual representation of those spheres in size, so they do not obstruct my view ??

HI GVDP,

mm you are right.

I switch that from the original ‘opengl’ generated points, because I wanted more consistency with the auto-supporter. The original dots where not in ‘real’ 3d but only 2d, so they worked a bit different on various systems; on some systems they were square.
however, afterwards i fixed that glitch but i hard already changed these to dots… i will see if I can either

  • adjust the size of the sphere to the tip to place. that’s probably nicest
  • get back the old disks

I’m fixing some small other glitches and will release a patch in a few days.

Hi,

I’ve reverted this change.
Perhaps in the future I’ll make a ‘live’ preview of the exact geometry.
But for now it seems like zooming in and having the small dot stay the same size is more valuable than previewing the exact final geometry of a support.

Will be release this week.
